International Tabletop Day Returns 6 June: Host Your Own

There is a worldwide excuse to clear the table and get everyone playing coming up. International Tabletop Day lands on Saturday 6 June 2026, the first Saturday of June, and it is the one day a year when shops, clubs and living rooms everywhere throw open their doors for a day of games.

Run game nights? Backseat Gamer handles RSVPs, waitlists, date polling, and game voting so you can focus on playing.

It is a proper hobby institution by now. The day began in 2013, off the back of Geek & Sundry's TableTop, the web series where Wil Wheaton played a new game with a rotating cast of guests each episode. More than a decade on, it has become a global nudge to play more and rope in more people.

You do not need to wait for a shop to lay something on, though. Hosting your own session is the easiest community-building you will do all year, and a fine excuse to finally teach that box gathering dust on your shelf. Lean on quick crowd-pleasers people can pick up in five minutes, the likes of Codenames, Sushi Go! or Ticket to Ride, rather than your heaviest four-hour epic, because nobody wants their first game of the day to be a rules lecture. Set a rough start and a casual finish, lay on snacks, and keep one easy game running that latecomers can drop straight into. Your local game shop or library will often lend space if you fancy a bigger turnout.

Stop juggling Meetup, WhatsApp, and spreadsheets. One platform for your gaming group's events, RSVPs, and member management.

See how it works

If you would like it to be more than a few mates on the sofa, you can set up a free, RSVP-able event on Backseat Gamer and find a local group to invite. Run it once on 6 June and your group might just want to make it a monthly fixture.
