Hasbro chief executive Chris Cocks has told GamesRadar to "expect more" Dungeons & Dragons crossover products. If your group has been holding out for a Harry Potter wizard or a Fourth Wing dragon rider at the table, the green light just got brighter.
Stop juggling Meetup, WhatsApp, and spreadsheets. One platform for your gaming group's events, RSVPs, and member management.
See how it worksSpeaking this week, Cocks pointed to Magic: The Gathering's Universes Beyond programme as the proof of concept Hasbro wants to mirror in D&D. Wizards of the Coast has already dipped its toe in with Critical Role: Call of the Netherdeep, the Stranger Things and Rick & Morty boxed sets, and the Magic crossover campaign books (Strixhaven, Ravnica, Theros Beyond Death). Cocks argued that D&D's flexible setting roster, from Spelljammer to Curse of Strahd, makes 5E a natural home for outside intellectual properties.
The interview lands days after the same publication reported that Cocks sees D&D's future as a "live service" rather than a pure book line, with D&D Beyond Drops already shipping subscribers new spells, feats, monsters and maps every Thursday. Add Hasbro's recent licensing tie-ups for Harry Potter and Rebecca Yarros's Fourth Wing series, and the speculation about which franchise gets a 5E book next is going to dominate every Discord this side of summer.
