Habitats, one of the more quietly clever tile-layers in the hobby, is now free to play in your browser. Board Game Arena added it on 11 May 2026, which means anyone can sit down with designer Corne van Moorsel's wildlife-park puzzle without buying a copy first.

Find events near youIt is a tile-placement game for 1 to 5 players that runs around 40 minutes, and the clever bit is how you draft tiles. Each turn you move a little ranger jeep around a shared market of tiles, picking up the animal or terrain you want and shuffling along as you go. Back in your own preserve, every animal needs the right sort of land around it, and it only scores if you have actually built the habitat it wants. Goals shift each year across the game's three years, so the preserve you are optimising keeps changing under your feet. The current edition comes from AllPlay, whose reprint is what put the game back within easy reach, and its page sums up the appeal with a player verdict: 'an absolute delight to play and look at.'
Free browser play makes Habitats an easy one to try before you commit to a physical copy, and it is a tidy pick for an online game night when your group cannot get to the same table. If that sounds like your sort of evening, round up some players and start a game night to give it a go together.
Stop juggling Meetup, WhatsApp, and spreadsheets. One platform for your gaming group's events, RSVPs, and member management.
