Fruit Island, an existing Knizia game getting its first North American release, launched on Kickstarter on 9 June 2026 through Toronto's Analog Game Studios.

See how it worksIt plays in about 20 minutes for 2 to 4 players, ages 6 and up. You play a monkey scampering across a tropical island, plucking bananas, mangos and pomegranates from the trees. The catch is a fruit-loving gorilla blundering around the board, and if he reaches you before you have stashed your haul, your loose fruit is his. So the heart of every turn is one agonising question: do you bank what you are carrying at the trading post, or push your luck for one more tree before the gorilla wakes up?
That tension is classic Knizia. The German designer is one of the most prolific names in the hobby, with hundreds of published games, from light gems like Lost Cities to the meatier The Quest for El Dorado, and a gift for wringing tough choices out of tidy rules. Fruit Island sits at the family-friendly end of his catalogue, the sort of game you can teach in two minutes and bring out with kids or non-gamers.
