Frosthaven, the digital adaptation of one of BoardGameGeek's highest-rated board games, is getting its third major content update this month. Snapshot Games' Early Access roadmap puts the Lurker storyline front and centre in April, alongside new playable heroes, bosses, quests, and building upgrades.
The update follows two well-received content drops since the game entered Early Access in 2025. October's Awakening Protocol introduced the Unfettered machine civilisation with three new heroes and five bosses. January's Legacy of the Algox brought the local Algox tribes into the story with another three heroes, five bosses, and a pair of new biomes. April continues the pattern, adding the aquatic Lurker faction that fans of the physical board game know well as one of Frosthaven's most atmospheric enemy groups.
Isaac Childres' original Frosthaven raised nearly $13 million on Kickstarter in 2020 and ranks among BGG's highest-rated games. The digital version takes the tactical co-op RPG online for up to four players, adapting the board game's branching campaign with quality-of-life improvements that cut down on the physical version's notoriously heavy setup time.
The Early Access journey wraps up in July with the main story finale and a target 1.0 release. If you have been waiting for a substantial chunk of the campaign to be available before jumping in, the April update brings the total to well over 60 quests, with the full 80+ promised by launch.
That enormous box has always been a commitment to get to the table. The digital version on Steam Early Access strips away the setup and lets you jump straight into the campaign.
