Don't let the pastel plushies fool you. Fluffypede, a card game from Finnish indie ShyFinn Games, looks adorable and plays mean. It's live on Gamefound right now, where it has already smashed past its funding goal, so you can grab it while the campaign is still running.
Stop juggling Meetup, WhatsApp, and spreadsheets. One platform for your gaming group's events, RSVPs, and member management.
See how it worksTwo to five players are toymakers building fluffy creatures from double-sided piece cards, racing to complete "orders" for points. The catch is that only the player who lays the final card to finish an order exactly takes the points for it, so the whole table is jostling to swoop in at the last possible second. You use special powers and a "thread" resource to grow your creatures, multiply them, or simply chop a fluffypede down to size and steal the win out from under someone. The kawaii artwork, by Anna Saarto and Oona Viljakainen, hides a properly sharp little game.
The best bit might be the backstory of the name. Fluffypede was originally called Centipede, until the team realised everyone's mind jumped straight to the horror film The Human Centipede, which is not the vibe for a game about cuddly plushies. A rebrand to the softer, pastel Fluffypede followed. ShyFinn isn't stopping there either: the studio is also working on Pop Away, a take-that survival game where the players are hardened popcorn kernels trying not to get popped.
