Dungeon Crawler Carl Gets an RPG and a Deckbuilder, BackerKit Campaign Launches in April

If you have not yet encountered Dungeon Crawler Carl, allow us to catch you up: it is a LitRPG book series about a man and his ex-girlfriend's cat navigating a deadly alien dungeon crawl that doubles as an intergalactic reality show. It has sold over six million copies, hit the New York Times bestseller list multiple times, and has a TV adaptation in the works from NBCUniversal. It is, by any measure, a phenomenon.

Now Renegade Game Studios is bringing Carl to the tabletop with two games launching on BackerKit in April 2026.

First up is the Dungeon Crawler Carl Roleplaying Game, a full tabletop RPG where you can play as Carl, Princess Donut, or create your own crawler braving the World Dungeon. It supports two or more players with one acting as Game Master.

The second title is Dungeon Crawler Carl: Unstoppable, a solo or two-player cooperative deckbuilding game built on John D. Clair's card-crafting Unstoppable system. Players upgrade their abilities and equipment during play, which fits the series' progression-heavy premise like a glove.

Both games feature illustrations by Luciano Fleitas, the series' longtime artist. Renegade also showed off a line of pre-painted miniatures at GAMA Expo 2026, with the first set featuring Princess Donut, Katia Grimm, Mongo, and several versions of Carl.

The BackerKit campaign already has over 61,000 followers, which suggests this one is going to fund in spectacular fashion. If you are a fan of the books or just fancy a co-op deckbuilder with a brilliantly weird setting, keep an eye out when the campaign goes live next month.
