Dice Throne, the fast-paced dice combat game where you roll dice Yahtzee-style to activate hero abilities and attack your opponent, is making the leap to digital. The franchise has built a dedicated following across multiple Kickstarter campaigns (raising nearly $13 million combined), and the Kickstarter for Dice Throne Digital launches on April 14, bringing the game to iOS, Android, Steam, and Meta Quest with full cross-platform play from day one.
The digital version is being developed by Nerd Ninjas, an indie studio founded by Nate Chatellier, who co-created the original tabletop game back in 2017. That pedigree matters. Chatellier knows Dice Throne inside and out, and the team has been clear that the goal is to expand the community rather than replace the physical game.
All eight Season One heroes will be playable at launch: Barbarian, Monk, Moon Elf, Ninja, Paladin, Pyromancer, Shadow Thief, and Treant. Each brings a dramatically different playstyle. The Barbarian swings for massive damage and gambles on big dice rolls, while the Shadow Thief plays a slower, more manipulative game of stealing upgrades and redirecting attacks. Alongside the classic 1v1, 2v2, and free-for-all modes, the digital version introduces a brand-new roguelite campaign mode for solo players.
Digital-exclusive features will include alternate hero skins, animated boards, and voice lines. During the Kickstarter, community voting will help determine which additional heroes get developed next.
The Dice Throne franchise has grown steadily since its debut. Season Two brought the total roster to 16 heroes, and the Marvel Dice Throne crossover brought characters like Thor, Loki, and Spider-Man into the arena. The digital adaptation is the next logical step for a game built around quick, replayable duels.
If you have ever wanted to throw down a Barbarian vs. Ninja match while waiting for a bus, April 14 is the date to mark.
