If your group likes co-op games that pile on the dread, Demon Castle Mononoke belongs on your radar. It drops one to five players into a ruined castle as cursed heroes, trapped there by capricious spirits, and the only goal is to survive. The game from publisher Cardboard Revolution has just wrapped up a funded campaign on Gamefound.

Set up your group for freeThe structure is easy to grasp and thoroughly mean to pull off. You defend your temporary home across six nights while a powerful mononoke and its lesser yokai lay siege. Hold out and you return to the living world. Fail and you are cast into the void for good. It draws on Japanese folklore, the same well that feeds countless ghost stories of shape-shifting, grudge-bearing spirits, and leans hard into that creeping, lantern-lit atmosphere.
It plays one to five at ages 12 and up in roughly 40 to 75 minutes, a sensible weeknight length rather than an all-evening epic. A fifth player can even take the demon's side, turning the cooperative huddle into a one-versus-many standoff if you fancy a villain at the table.

The studio is not stopping there either, with a giant-robot skirmish game called Sunrise City Smackdown already teased. If you and your friends enjoy being scared together, this one is worth tracking down. Still after a regular crew? Find people to play with.
