Spellcasters, this one is for you. Wizards of the Coast has opened pre-orders for Arcana Unleashed, a new Dungeons & Dragons sourcebook built entirely around high magic, and it is packing enough new toys to rebuild half your character sheet. It lands on 15 September 2026, with local game shops getting early access from 1 September.

Start organising for freeThe headline is eight new subclasses drawn from arcane traditions, including an Arcane Archer fighter, a Warrior of the Mystic Arts monk, and a run of specialist wizards covering conjuration, enchantment, necromancy and transmutation. Alongside them come 33 new and revised spells, 47 magic items (among them "evolving" relics that grow in power as your character does), and 19 magical creatures to throw at your party. There are also nine arcane factions and six group patrons to weave into a campaign, plus a short introductory adventure, Tomb of the Shadow Serpents, designed for a session or two.
It does not stop at the one book. A companion adventure, Arcana Unleashed: Deadfall, sends higher-level heroes (levels 11 to 20) into the dread nation of Thay to tangle with its red-robed wizards and the lich Szass Tam, a proper marquee villain for anyone who likes their D&D with real menace. Both books get standard and alternate-art covers at the same price.
