D&D Tower Takes Over a Six-Storey Building at Gen Con 2026

Planning a trip to Gen Con this summer? Dungeons & Dragons is giving you a reason to step away from the convention hall floor. Wizards of the Coast is taking over an entire six-storey building in downtown Indianapolis and turning it into the "D&D Tower" for Gen Con 2026, which runs from 30 July to 2 August.

Stop juggling Meetup, WhatsApp, and spreadsheets. One platform for your gaming group's events, RSVPs, and member management.

The building is the Indiana Repertory Theatre, and the plan is to "D&D-ify" all six floors with live events, performances, games and a D&D Carnival, according to the official announcement on D&D Beyond. It is a bigger swing than the low-key presence D&D has kept at the show lately.

There is a proper line-up of scheduled events too. On Thursday 30 July, Dungeon Dare: Web of the Red Wizards is an hour-long short-play session using pre-built level 3 characters, tied to the upcoming Deadfall adventure. Saturday 1 August is the busy day: The Puppy Roll III goes live from 10:30am, an animal-welfare charity event hosted by Anjali Bhimani; five-time Grammy-nominated composer David Arkenstone performs the Dungeon Masters soundtrack with a live orchestra at 5pm; and Jasmine Bhullar runs a Dungeon Masters Live Play from 7pm, with proceeds going to Extra Life Children's Miracle Network.

This matters beyond the spectacle. D&D boss Dan Ayoub has said Gen Con will become the home for the brand's annual announcements, so a new autumn 2026 book is expected to surface during the show. After years of treating Gen Con as an afterthought, the team is planting a flag.

If you are putting together a group trip to Gen Con, get the logistics sorted early. You can organise your crew on Backseat Gamer so nobody misses the orchestra or the Tower.
