Dungeons & Dragons is heading back to the Domains of Dread. Ravenloft: The Horrors Within, the first D&D sourcebook of 2026, opens for pre-order on April 13 and arrives on shelves June 16 at $59.99. It anchors D&D's new "Season of Horror" running from April through June, which means your local game store could be running coordinated Ravenloft events all spring and summer.
The book brings four new playable species (Dhampir, Hexblood, Lupin, and Reborn) and eight horror-themed subclasses. New additions include the Reanimator Artificer and Hollow Warden Ranger, while returning fan favourites like the Hexblade Warlock, Undead Patron Warlock, and Shadow Sorcerer get updated for the current rules. On the DM side, there is expanded lore on Darklords and their Domains, dozens of new monsters, and potential allies like the legendary vampire hunter Rudolph van Richten.
Accompanying the sourcebook is a 60-card Tarokka Deck ($24.99) that doubles as a prop for in-game fortune telling, a four-panel DM Screen ($24.99), and a Map Pack ($24.99) with five double-sided poster maps and two token sheets.
D&D Beyond subscribers get early digital access, with Master Tier opening on June 2 and Hero Tier on June 9. The seasonal structure ties each release to organised play events, giving game stores a built-in reason to run Ravenloft sessions through the spring.
If your group has fond memories of Curse of Strahd or the original Ravenloft module, this is shaping up to be a comprehensive return to one of D&D's most atmospheric settings.
