Daggerheart, the fantasy roleplaying game from Critical Role's Darrington Press, is getting its first big expansion, and it lets your character turn into a vampire. Hope & Fear is a 200-page hardcover arriving on 25 August 2026 for $39.99 (around £30), and it's the first full add-on to last year's hit Core Set.

Start organising for freeThe headline feature is a new transformation mechanic with six options, including vampires, demigods and werewolves, so your hero can sprout fangs or ascend to godhood part way through a campaign. On top of that you get four new classes (the Witch, Warlock, Brawler and Assassin), eight new subclasses, six new ancestry cards and six community cards, plus a Dread Domain card set and a fresh batch of adversaries and environments for GMs to throw at the party. Daggerheart only launched in 2025, but it landed hard off the back of Critical Role's enormous audience, and the publisher has just wrapped a week of first-birthday celebrations.
Hope & Fear comes in standard and deluxe editions and slots straight into the Core Set, so existing tables can fold it in without starting over. With it landing in late August, it's a tidy excuse to line up an autumn campaign. And if you need a couple more players to fill the table, find a group near you.
