Cyberpunk TCG Shatters All-Time Kickstarter Tabletop Record

The Cyberpunk Trading Card Game has done something no tabletop project has managed before. CD Projekt Red and WeirdCo's dice-stealing card game has surpassed $15.7 million on Kickstarter, overtaking Brandon Sanderson's Cosmere RPG ($15.1 million) to become the most-funded tabletop game in crowdfunding history.

That's not a typo. A trading card game now holds the all-time record for tabletop crowdfunding, beating out RPGs, miniatures games, and every board game that's ever graced the platform.

The campaign hit its $100,000 goal in five minutes after launching on 17 March, then blew past $8 million in its first 24 hours. What's driving the numbers isn't just the Cyberpunk brand. WeirdCo's central Gig Dice mechanic replaces traditional life totals with a collection of polyhedral dice from D4 to D20. Combat means physically stealing your opponent's dice rather than dealing damage, creating what head designer Richard Zapp describes as "an alleyway ambush rather than a polite duel." First crew to start their turn with six Gig dice wins.

Games last around 15 minutes, which is short enough for best-of-three sets at your local game shop. Wave 1 fulfilment is planned for Q3 2026, with the campaign running until 17 April.

With two weeks still to go, some projections suggest the campaign could approach $20 million. Whether it gets there or not, the Cyberpunk TCG has already rewritten what's possible for a card game on Kickstarter.
