Conan: Tales of Tortage and Zamora Heads to Kickstarter

Monolith's Conan is heading back into the Hyborian Age. The publisher has announced Conan: Tales of Tortage and Zamora, a Kickstarter that brings its Conan board game and its Conan roleplaying game together in a single campaign.

Stop juggling Meetup, WhatsApp, and spreadsheets. One platform for your gaming group's events, RSVPs, and member management.

See how it works

Monolith first crowdfunded Conan roughly a decade ago, and it became a fixture for fans of big, ambitious Hyborian Age adventures. Tales of Tortage and Zamora carries the barbarian into two of the setting's most dangerous corners, with the new content built for solo play, co-operative play, or the one-against-many Overlord mode. Monolith has named one new mechanic, the Blessings of the Spider-God, but has not yet said how it works.

Folding the board game and the RPG into one campaign is the move worth watching. It lets a group meet the same world two ways, as a tactical board game battle or as a full roleplaying session, and back whichever pieces suit their table.

Monolith has not set a launch date or shared pledge details yet, so there is time to dig out your old Conan box or decide whether this is your jumping-on point. If you are short of players for a heavier game, it is worth lining up a group near you before the pledges open.
