Company of Heroes: Desert Warfare Nears $1M on Gamefound

The board game adaptation of Relic Entertainment's WW2 real-time strategy series is heading to North Africa. Bad Crow Games has launched a Gamefound campaign for Company of Heroes: Desert Warfare, an expansion that adds the Deutsches Afrika Korps (DAK) to the acclaimed 2nd Edition. The campaign has pulled in over $948,000 from nearly 2,000 backers, with two weeks still to go.

The original Company of Heroes board game earned a reputation for capturing the feel of the PC classic: fast-paced tactical combat where positioning, cover, and flanking matter as much as what units you bring. The 2nd Edition refined the formula with two years of community feedback, and a companion Solo and Fog of War expansion added AI-driven solo and cooperative modes. Desert Warfare builds on that foundation with the DAK faction, bringing hit-and-run armoured tactics and the harsh supply challenges of the North African theatre to the table.

It's an expansion, so you'll need the 2nd Edition base game to play. The campaign bundles a base game reprint for newcomers alongside the expansion, making it a convenient jumping-on point. Stretch goals have been falling fast, with 17 unlocked so far, and backers can add faction-specific extras and additional map packs to their pledges.

If you've ever wanted to recreate Rommel's desert offensives across your dining table, or if you're a fan of the video game looking for a tabletop equivalent, the campaign runs until 16 April on Gamefound.
