If you've ever watched a cat casually swipe a mug off a countertop without a shred of remorse, The Op has turned that energy into a board game. Cats Knocking Things Off Ledges is a dexterity stacking game for 2-4 players that just hit retail shelves.
The premise is exactly what the title promises. Players take turns building a wobbly tower of platforms, placing their wooden cat meeples on top, then using those cats to bat toy tokens off the edges. The further a toy falls before landing on a lower platform, the more points it scores. Land on a matching pattern and you get a bonus. But if the whole tower comes crashing down on your turn, you score nothing.
The game comes from designers Sen-Foong Lim and David Killing. Lim is half of the Bamboozle Brothers duo behind Junk Art, another beloved dexterity stacking game, so he knows his way around precarious wooden towers. The Op has kept things simple: 24 chunky wooden pieces, 15-minute play time, and an age 10+ rating that makes it approachable for families.
At under $20, it slots neatly into that "one more game before we call it a night" category. It's the kind of game you pull out when the table needs something light after a three-hour euro, and everyone ends up laughing.
If you're looking for something to liven up your next game night, a game where cats destroy things on purpose might be just the ticket.
