Capitals of Tactoria Hits 294% as Gamefound Clock Ticks

If you like the idea of building a medieval kingdom, hiring mercenaries and gleefully shoving your friends out of the way, here is one for the wishlist. Capitals of Tactoria, a strategic city-building card game for one to four players, is in its final days on Gamefound and the numbers tell a happy story.

As of writing, the campaign has gathered 51,982 EUR (around 44,000 GBP) from 518 backers, against a modest goal of just 17,700 EUR (around 15,100 GBP). That is roughly 294% funded, comfortably past the line and still climbing, with the campaign set to close on 29 June 2026 (Gamefound).

What makes this one worth a look is who is behind it. Capitals of Tactoria comes from Henrik Lennartsson, the independent designer trading as ArcaneArchitect through his own Tactoria Studios (Gamefound). This is very much a smaller, designer-led project rather than a publisher juggernaut, which makes tripling a goal all the more impressive. The pitch blends engine-building, tactical card play and asymmetric city development, with plenty of direct interaction as you specialise your capital and time your plays to outmanoeuvre rivals (BoardGameGeek).

A solo mode is in the box too, so it is not purely a table-of-four affair. For an indie debut on a crowded platform, hitting nearly three times its target is a strong result.

If a kingdom-builder lands on your shelf this year, you will want people to play it with. Round some up over on the Backseat Gamer communities. The clock runs out on 29 June, so do not dawdle if this is your sort of thing.
