Most trading card games want you to beat the person opposite. Barista Brawl wants the two of you to survive the morning rush together, and it is live on Kickstarter now.
Run game nights? Backseat Gamer handles RSVPs, waitlists, date polling, and game voting so you can focus on playing.
Start organising for freeIt is a two-player co-operative game where you each build a 36-card deck of barista heroes, equipment and inventory cards, then face down waves of customers. A free companion app plays game master, sending each wave in with its own demands and its own patience timer, ramping up as you go. You win together or you lose together, which makes it a much easier sell to a partner or a friend who bounces off competitive card games. The app works offline once downloaded, which is worth knowing before you commit to an app-driven game.
The origin story is the interesting part. It was built at Coffee N' Comics in Reno, Nevada, by people who actually work behind a counter, and the characters are based on real staff and real shifts. Every card is hand-drawn by a team of six artists, and the publisher is blunt about it: no AI-generated art, no stock images anywhere in the set. There is a plan to keep that going, too. Players can nominate baristas from their own local coffee shops for future card sets, with community voting deciding who makes the cut.
Stop juggling Meetup, WhatsApp, and spreadsheets. One platform for your gaming group's events, RSVPs, and member management.
See how it worksThe product range is the usual TCG shape, which is a slightly odd fit for a co-op game and worth understanding before you pledge. The starter deck is 36 ready-to-play cards including two barista cards, and on top of that sit 13-card booster packs with a chance of foil rares and a 36-pack booster box. Pricing is only visible on the campaign page, which is linked from the game's site.
Publisher Bang Shark Industries says manufacturing is already underway with half the print run pre-funded, so the campaign decides how widely it gets distributed rather than whether it happens at all. That is a genuinely reassuring detail if you have been burned by a campaign that never shipped. Backers are looking at November 2026 for delivery, and it is rated for ages 14 and up.
If your regular two-player night has settled into a rut, this is an easy way out of it. Find a group that plays what you play.
