Cole Wehrle's Arcs: Beyond the Reach Kickstarter launched on Monday and crossed $1 million in pledges within its first day, reaching twenty times its $50,000 goal.
This is the first crowdfunding campaign from Buried Giant Studios, the company Wehrle and artist Kyle Ferrin formed in January after departing Leder Games. They took the rights to Arcs and Oath with them; Leder Games retained Root.
Three expansions are on offer. Lost Vaults and Fated Leaders brings 30+ new court cards, a fifth player option, and new map elements to the base game. Beyond the Reach adds new campaign plotlines with hidden identities. Halls of Power focuses on political manoeuvring, described by Wehrle as packed with "skullduggery."
Arcs is a card-driven space strategy game where players fight for dominance across a collapsing galactic empire. It currently sits at 8.2 on BoardGameGeek. The original Arcs campaign, run under Leder Games in 2022, raised $1.46 million from over 15,000 backers across its full run. The new campaign is closing in on that total with 26 days still to go.
At an average pledge of around $127, backers are going in for the full package rather than picking up a single expansion. The campaign runs until 28 April, with screen-printed wooden components offered as a Kickstarter exclusive.
If you are getting a heavier strategy group together, find a community near you to get it to the table.
