DC's Absolute Batman is one of the biggest comic book phenomena in years, consistently selling over 300,000 copies a month and helping DC overtake Marvel in market share for the first time in over a decade. Now Monolith Board Games is bringing Scott Snyder and Nick Dragotta's reimagined Dark Knight to the tabletop.
Batman: Gotham City Chronicles Season 4 will feature the Absolute Universe, where Bruce Wayne is a working-class brawler with a DIY arsenal rather than a billionaire playboy. The Gamefound preview page is already live, with the full crowdfunding campaign planned for Q4 2026.
Monolith has been running Gotham City Chronicles since 2018, and the series has earned a reputation for high-quality miniatures and scenario-driven tactical gameplay. Season 4 introduces vertical three-level maps where fights play out across rooftops, streets, and building interiors. You can play solo against an automated villain system, cooperatively, or in competitive asymmetric skirmishes.
The miniatures roster includes Absolute Batman himself, Alfred Pennyworth, Black Mask, Bane, and members of the Party Animals (the criminal gang from the comic). Monolith's previous Batman campaigns and their original Conan game have consistently delivered on miniature quality, so expectations are high.
No pricing has been announced yet, but if you've backed a Gotham City Chronicles season before, you know what to expect.
