The 7th Sea 3rd Edition Kickstarter closes on April 10, giving you one week to jump aboard.
7th Sea is one of tabletop RPG's most beloved settings. Created by John Wick and Jennifer Wick in 1999, it's a world of swashbuckling adventure, political intrigue, and sorcery set in Théah, a fantasy analogue of 17th-century Europe. The original won the Origins Award for Best Roleplaying Game of 1999, and the 2nd edition Kickstarter in 2016 raised over $1.3 million before sweeping six ENnie Awards including Product of the Year.
This time, French studio Studio Agate is at the helm. Best known for Shadows of Esteren, the most decorated French RPG, with multiple ENnie Awards of its own, Studio Agate is building the 3rd edition on a modernised Roll & Keep system designed for cinematic, fast-paced play. Think Three Musketeers meets Pirates of the Caribbean, with dice.
The campaign funded in under 30 minutes when it launched on March 10 and has since sailed past £260,000. Chaosium, which holds the 7th Sea licence, is backing the project, giving Studio Agate access to the full setting and lore.
A free rules preview is available on the Kickstarter page. If you've been looking for a swashbuckling RPG that doesn't take itself too seriously, the gangplank pulls up on April 10.
