For organisers
List your board game events for free
No Meetup subscription. No Eventbrite commission. Your events discoverable on Google — not buried in a walled garden.
Why organisers are moving away from Meetup and Eventbrite
The platforms everyone uses for events were not built for tabletop gaming. They're expensive, generic, and invisible to people searching Google for a game night.
- £199/yr organiser subscription
- No board-game-specific features
- Generic discovery — your events compete with yoga and coding
- No game coordination or BGG integration
- Commission on every paid ticket
- Events buried among millions of unrelated listings
- No attendee coordination tools
- No recurring event support
- Invisible to Google — requires an account to view
- No RSVP tracking or waitlist management
- Events lost in feed noise within hours
- No game coordination tools
- Free for organisers — always
- Built for tabletop gaming specifically
- Events indexed by Google and discoverable by anyone
- RSVP management, game coordination, QR check-in
Everything you need to run a great game night
Create events in under a minute
Set a title, date, venue, and capacity. Your event is live immediately. Set up a recurring schedule once and it repeats automatically — weekly game nights without the monthly admin.
- Weekly, fortnightly, or monthly recurring events
- Google Maps venue search and distance display for attendees
- Capacity limits with automatic waitlist
A proper home for your group
Create a community page for your club, regular meetup, or gaming group. Members can apply to join, browse upcoming events, and see the group's game library. You control who gets in.
- Open, application-based, or invite-only membership
- Custom application questions to vet new members
- Co-organiser roles so you can share the admin load
Know what games are coming before the night
Attendees flag which games from their BoardGameGeek collections they're bringing. You get a clear picture before the event — no surprises on the night about what's available to play.
- BGG collection integration for all attendees
- See who's bringing what at a glance
- QR code check-in at the door instead of a clipboard
Automated notifications — no chasing
When someone drops out of a full event, the next person on the waitlist is promoted automatically and notified instantly. Members are notified when their application is reviewed, when events change, and more.
- Automatic waitlist promotion when spots open
- Push notifications for waitlist, event changes, and applications
- Subscribable calendar feeds (.ics, Google, Outlook)

Common questions from organisers
Is it really free for organisers?
Yes. Creating events, managing communities, and using all organiser tools is completely free. There are no subscription fees, no commission on free events, and no hidden charges. We plan to introduce optional paid ticketing in the future, which will include a small processing fee only on paid ticket sales — free events will always remain free.
Do I need to create a community to list an event?
No. You can create standalone events without a community. Communities are optional — they're useful if you run a regular group and want a permanent home page with a member list, discussion threads, and upcoming events all in one place.
What types of events can I list?
Board game nights, RPG sessions, card game tournaments, wargaming events, miniatures sessions, social deduction evenings — any tabletop gaming event is welcome. Events can be in-person, online, or hybrid.
How do attendees find my events?
Events are publicly listed on the Backseat Gamer events page, indexed by Google, and discoverable by anyone searching for board game events in your area. Attendees can also browse by city, game type, or community. You can share your event link directly — no account required to view it.
Can I set up recurring events for a regular game night?
Yes. Set a recurring schedule — weekly, fortnightly, or monthly — and the events generate automatically. Each occurrence has its own RSVP list and attendee coordination. You manage the template once and the platform handles the rest.
How does the waitlist work?
When your event reaches capacity, additional RSVPs go to the waitlist automatically. If an attendee cancels or reduces their guest count, the next person on the waitlist is promoted immediately and notified by push notification. No manual intervention required.
Ready to list your first event?
Free to join. Your events searchable on Google from day one.
