Odysseus Is a Greek Myth Game From a Faraway Designer

If Faraway has been a regular at your table, here is a name to watch. Gigamic has announced Odysseus, a strategy and puzzle game for 1 to 5 players co-designed by Johannes Goupy, one of the two designers behind the As d'Or-winning hit card game Faraway. It retraces Homer's Odyssey and is due in UK shops this September.

The pitch is straightforward to learn but mean to master. You guide Odysseus home to Ithaca after the Trojan War, steering him past sirens, cyclopes and meddling gods across the trials of the famous voyage, with a little help from Athena. Games run around 25 minutes, it is aimed at ages 8 and up, and there is a solo mode with an automated opponent for one-player evenings. Goupy knows this lighter, clever-little-box space well: he made Faraway with Corentin Lebrat for Catch Up Games back in 2023, and it went on to scoop France's As d'Or prize. Matthieu Verdier co-designs here, with art by Régis Torres giving the myth a clean, approachable look.

Gigamic has it landing on 9 September 2026, with UK distribution through Hachette Boardgames UK. If you want something quick and thinky for the family that is not another farmyard, this is one to pencil in. Time to rally the group for a trip to ancient Greece.
