Fermi's Paradox Turns "Where Is Everybody?" Into a Solo Game

The Fermi paradox is one of the great unsettling questions in science: the universe is vast and old, so where is everybody? Dan Verssen Games has spent the best part of a decade turning that question into a solo board game, and Fermi's Paradox has now comfortably funded on Kickstarter with only days left to back it.

It is a solitaire sci-fi game, billed on the campaign as the one that answers "Where is Everybody?". The designer has said he had been working on it for almost ten years, with other company priorities pushing it to the back burner until now. DVG knows this lane well, having built a long line of solitaire games including its Leader series of military titles, so expect a meaty, systems-led experience rather than a light storybook.

Backers clearly responded to the long wait. According to Kicktraq, the campaign has pulled in more than $37,000, around 247 per cent of its $15,000 goal. Pledges start at around £40 ($50) per the Board Game Quest roundup, and it runs through Monday 1 June 2026.

For solo gamers who like a real theme to chew on, a ten-years-in-the-making space mystery about cosmic loneliness is a tempting way to spend an evening.
